Ensure All Students Have Access to the Arts

Celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of our young Artists and the transformative power of Arts Education. By supporting City Hearts' continued dedication to providing no cost Arts Education and unique Arts experiences to students in Arts-underserved areas of Los Angeles County, you contribute to the growth and development of youth creators and aspiring Artists to provide them with opportunities to express themselves, explore their creativity, and shape their futures. Let's unite to celebrate these students' potential and create a vibrant Artistic community.

During the 2023-24 school year, City Hearts reached 708 students through 45 weekly classes (1,116 classes total) at 17 schools across Long Beach, Compton, Paramount Unified, Centinela Valley Union, Whittier City, and Burbank School Districts. This 2024-25 school year, we are serving over 850 students through 52 classes (1,300 classes total) at 13 schools across Long Beach, Compton, Centinela Valley Union, and Whittier City School Districts. Since our inception, City Hearts has served over 45,000 students.

Jonathan, an 8th grader in two of our after-school programs shares, “When I think of City Hearts, I think of a healthy and supportive community to help make young actors and performers more confident in their art and help them thrive and strive to follow their passion.” Our students are showing tremendous growth in their Artistic and social-emotional skills.

Alumna and star of "My Dream Quinceañera" TV series, Honey Robinson says, "City Hearts allows students to have access to Arts programs they normally wouldn't be able to pay for. Although not every City Hearts student has to become a professional Artist, with these programs, they are all given the gift to discover and explore. For me, my years as a City Hearts student were unforgettable and planted the seed of pursuing Acting as a career, which I am now doing."

Watch Honey speak further about her transformative experience as a City Hearts student in her interview with Executive Director (and Honey's former City Hearts Teaching Artist) Charles Maceo Thornhill.

Be a part of the transformation and help us continue to grow our critical Arts access programming for more students in 2024!
